Exploring Online Consumer Behaviours Through a 3-Week Online Diary 🛍️📱
Project Aim: Understanding Social Media Shopping Habits in the Digital Age 🎯📊
MindMarket embarked on a comprehensive study to understand the behaviours of social media users and online shoppers in the USA. Partnering with a client with a need to understand the nuances of digital consumer habits, our mission was to create the study design, including an insightful activity guide, manage a dynamic online diary, and deliver a detailed insights report.
Study Design: Crafting the Activity Guide 📚📝
Our first step involved collaborating closely with the client to grasp their goals and objectives fully. This informed the creation of a robust activity guide for a 3-week online diary. Each day's activity was meticulously designed to take around 10 minutes, ensuring it was engaging yet concise, covering key aspects of social media usage and online shopping behaviours.
Recruitment: Ensuring Quality Participants 🔍🛠️
While our lead moderator worked on developing the activities for the online diary, our recruitment team recruited 100 respondents using our thorough process of verifying identities, assessing articulation, and ensuring their motivation to engage consistently over the 3 weeks. Our rigorous selection process ensured that participants were genuinely invested in the study and capable of providing high-quality insights.
Moderation: Engaging with Participants on Recollective 💬🔍
Utilising the Recollective platform, we managed and moderated the online diary, which involved 100 respondents who were active social media users and online shoppers. Our moderation team was responsible for entering probing questions, prompting respondents for deeper insights, and following up with additional queries to enrich the data. This active engagement ensured we captured a wealth of valuable information.
Analysis: Extracting Key Insights 📊💡
At the end of the 3-week period, we conducted a thorough analysis of the responses. The client requested a simple yet comprehensive output: a list of bullet points for each research question summarising the key findings from the moderator's perspective. Additionally, a debrief session with our lead moderator highlighted the most critical insights and identified participants who provided particularly valuable information.
Impact: Informing Strategic Decisions 🚀📈
The insights gleaned from this study provided the client with a deep understanding of how users interact with social media platforms and make purchasing decisions online. These findings are instrumental in shaping their marketing strategies and product offerings to better cater to the digital consumer landscape.
